Sorry I have been seriously lacking in blog posts lately. I've been working on a couple of projects and will announce a few little changes soon.
In the mean time, if you or someone you know is expecting a little bundle of joy, check out The Bump. It is an excellent resource guide for those soon-to-be Mommy's and Daddy's. This year is my second year advertising with them and I can't tell you how much I have loved all of my clients who have found me through there. (You know who you are!) Be sure you sign up for their rewards card to get all kinds of special discounts and perks and even a complimentary K. Lane print with your session.
And since I just realized my girl was seven months today, I'll post a picture of her.
Stay tuned for a change...

So for the past few days I've been telling people about these wonderful clients I had. I explain how I asked "Mom" if her girls were always this calm at the end of the session. She looked at me like I was crazy:) Mom apparently didn't think they were quite as calm as I did. The difference, we discovered, is that I'm used to being in my house with two crazy boys (plus baby girl), while she's used to her two sweet girls. My house is like a zoo compared to the "S" family's house!
Here is a little sneak peek for you "S" family. Your girls are so precious, thank you for sharing them with me.
I love little everyday moments like this:
Little sis (soooo cute!):
And one of big sis. Isn't she stunning?

I have just contacted the winner of the Giving is Awesome contest and I am so excited to work with this family. What an amazing story they have to share. I am figuring out details about what I can/cannot put on the blog about them (to respect their privacy) but let me just say they are so very deserving. Thank you to everyone who entered. And thank you to all of the other photographers participating in this "awesome" movement!

Happy New Year!
Although I don't normally work during the holidays, I did take on one shoot for this wonderful family and I'm so glad I did. Unfortunately, I think we did it on THE darkest day of 2008. But the energy and love that was displayed by this family was amazing and I'm so excited that I was there to witness it. They requested very laid-back, non-posed, capture-us-just-as-we-are type shots. It was so FUN. See for yourself...
How gorgeous are these sisters? I'm tellin' you, this whole family was stunning!
I think this next one is one of my absolute favorites from the session. It was soooo dark that day, I wasn't sure if this would work or not--but look how cute they are:
Thank you "H" family for welcoming me into your happy home and thanks, Brenda, for sending them my way!
And please, don't forget, if you want to enter someone for the Giving is Awesome contest, do it by Monday, January 5th. Thank you to those of you who have already emailed me about the deserving families you know. It's going to be a tough choice!

Last week I was talking to my four and a half year old son about Christmas. I told him that we needed to think of something nice to do for someone. He suggested we make a birthday cake for Jesus. After I melted a little, I told him that was a great idea and we would certainly do that but maybe we could think of something else to do for someone. He suggested we make a birthday cake for my niece, even though it's not her birthday. I told him maybe we could do something else for someone, besides make a cake.
"Oh, like a cookie?!" he said?
Yes, my boy has my sweet tooth. And since he's not quite grasping what I was trying to say, I decided to join the Giving is Awesome move. Hundreds of photographers from all over the world are offering the gift custom photography this holiday season to those who would otherwise not be able to afford it. So here's the deal:
You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.
You know someone. I guarantee it.
I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography worth over $2000. The winner will receive a photo session with me, 4x6 bordered prints from the session and the complete set of digital files.
Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $250 print credit on a future session. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?
The rules:
* The session will be for a newborn (12 days or under), baby or child (up to 5 years) or a small family (up to four people).
* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)
* The nominee must reside in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.
* You must e-mail me the full story : klanephotography@yahoo.com
The deadline for entries is 12 noon on January 1st, 2009. The winner will be announced on Monday January 5th, 2009 — so get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!
Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

I would be here all night and even all day tomorrow if I tried to write down everything I'm thankful for. I am so completely blessed, I truly am. So rather than making a list, I'll just post some pictures of my biggest blessings, my own kiddos. Yes, I do have THREE of them, not just a baby girl:)
A few of her five month "session" last week:
And a few of my incredibly wonderful boys:
(and I'm also thankful for my loyal readers even though I've been awful about posting lately!)
Happy Thanksgiving!

I had so much fun getting to know this family, chatting with mom and appreciating such a cooperative dad! Unfortunately I believe that mom is going to be a very bad influence--she's been sending me links all of these amazing "girl" places to shop for my daughter. I love it! Just check out how her twin girls are dressed. Is it not the cutest?
And here is one that I loved--the girls did this pose all on their own. They spoiled me.
This next one is so funny to me. She was such a cool mom. The girls knew how to "work it" and she definitely worked it with them!
Still workin' the camera:) (adorable, right?)
And these are just outtakes. I asked the girls to help me make mom and dad laugh. They made us all laugh!
Thank you, thank you "P" family for the laughs and great conversation!
